tuesday night under the lights

out early 9:20 in by 10:06, same route, i actually believe that taking the course nightly has allowed me to gauge my fitness progression quite nicely. i don't take any breaks like i did 3 weeks ago, the moves in the grass are flawless even in the dark and i'm going faster over the terrain. we'll see what it's like with some real competition one of these days. and one of these nights i'm going to hit the rollers in kenny park, it would start at the top of the hill by anthony school, down to the parking lot up again and down into the soccer field try a little off camber there and run thru the sand pit at the playground. maybe next weekend in the light of day or maybe if the keep the lights on at the soccer field.

weather:51 and partly cloudy, no wind
time; 45 minutes

breaking bikes and facial scars

i like breaking stuff. the most must fun i had as a little shredder was building jumps and seeing if the bicycle would survive. on one day i broke mine, my friends and i was working on my mom's when my brother showed up and put an end to it. bicycle court and safety class was adjudicated when i tried to stop on a three speed with no brakes in front of a police officer

i had major plastic surgery in '85 after i bit it adjusting my bike as i cruised down the motorway. i was unconscious and a bus driver going in the opposite direction called 911. 5 hours later and 3 weeks of healing i was fixing the bicycle and hitting the road with it.

cyclocross is nothin' when i spent my tweens dragging a 10 speed across fields and embankments, riding it down railroad tracks and in sand and mud. i was made for cyclocross.
