race promoters

i would like to be work in a field both thankless and hated, race promotion. i have sneaking suspicion that i could be good at it. i have no patience, i am prompt and and i do not tire easily. i don't want to make any money, but i would like to put in the sweat equity to register my team/club with USAC or maybe just MCF(would one get me the other?).

In december i would like to plan and execute a cyclocross race in richfield. i have some basic knowledge of UCI rules for cyclocross courses. i have planned banquets and written a few contracts. i'm going over my commitments and find the time lacking. how about running this thing bootleg; no permits, no liability, but a firm commitment to follow through.
