i yell at bikers who have creaky cranks, annoying clicks, and the dreaded brake squeal. like a true ninja i try to operate in silence; my body makes enough noise, i don't want to hear nothing from the mechanical extension.
sometimes it's not the riders fault, but it's annoying none the less. i even get pissed off at the sound of knobby tires on pavement, if you ain't riding in the dirt..... but the most easily fixed sound is the squeal of chattering cantilever brakes that have not been toed-in. it's like a horn, announcing to the world that you are an idiot biker. the solution is simple, the effect is sublime. hell, if you won't do it yerself, i'll fix those brakes, i got a hammer right here in my bag.
don't even get me started on un-lubricated drivetrains. simple maintenance costs next to nothing, get it done or do it yourself or try to do it yourself and run off to a bike shop when you fubar the damn thing. talking to a bike mechanic is not nearly as embarrassing as listening to your bike make noise as you roll down the street.
